India Gems of Araku - Organic Coffee

"Gems of Araku" refers to a specialty coffee produced in the Araku Valley of India, known for its high quality and unique flavor profile. It is cultivated by the Small and Marginal Tribal Farmers Mutually Aided Cooperative Society (SAMTFMACS), which was formed with support from The Naandi Foundation. The coffee's characteristics are influenced by the region's biodiversity, high altitude, and the farmers' meticulous processing methods.

SHADES OF CANOPY MICRO-LOT: Badnaini Baburao inherited a nine-year old family coffee farm from his father. A family with very humble beginnings made coffee their source of livelihood. However, inadequate shade management meant low yields and smaller returns. As a result of Naandi's intervention, Baburao adopted corrective shade management practices and witnessed a true transformation of his coffee plot. Now, his coffee plot is a lush, layered biodiverse ecosystem.
